- ➤ Hyde Park Neighborhood Club will partially reopen next month with a bright new lounge and teaching kitchen as part of a $7.3 million project to modernize its century-old building — additional upgrades including a baby comforting room and ADA improvements will follow in later phases. - ➤ The University of Chicago is cutting spending by $100 million by laying off staff and reducing academic programs as it faces a budget deficit and less federal support.
