  • Hyde Park Neighborhood Club will partially reopen next month with a bright new lounge and teaching kitchen as part of a $7.3 million project to modernize its century-old building — additional upgrades including a baby comforting room and ADA improvements will follow in later phases.  Hyde Park Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Chicago is cutting spending by $100 million by laying off staff and reducing academic programs as it faces a budget deficit and less federal support. It will cut research center funding and slow faculty hiring — including a 30% reduction in Ph.D. admissions by 2030.  Hyde Park Herald

  • On September 7, the Center for Student Involvement hosted UIC Day at Martin Field at Northwestern University—where UIC students, friends, and family cheered as the Chicago Stars FC took on defending champions Orlando Pride in an intense Lakefront Faceoff match.  Today UIC
