CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Ed Gombos, the well-known shopkeeper with a 7,000-square-foot USACO shop on South Addison Road, was robbed of $10,000 by masked men after he hired a repair crew to fill a pothole — and he now faces landlord pressure that could force his retirement. Daily Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Village of Bartlett reported on social media that the Route 59 northbound curb lane is closed north of Stearns Road due to a buckling roadway — drivers must use caution as only one lane is open. Daily Herald
- ➤ Carpentersville officials found that water and sewer lines installed 60 years ago are now exposed after the dam removal project lowered Fox River water levels this spring-also, the village said work to bury the lines is estimated to cost over $3 million with state Rep.-Suzanne Ness securing $400,000 in funding and engineering work to merge the lines set to start in the fall.
