🚨 Crime
Ed Gombos, the well-known shopkeeper with a 7,000-square-foot USACO shop on South Addison Road, was robbed of $10,000 by masked men after he hired a repair crew to fill a pothole — and he now faces landlord pressure that could force his retirement.
🏛️ Government
The Village of Bartlett reported on social media that the Route 59 northbound curb lane is closed north of Stearns Road due to a buckling roadway — drivers must use caution as only one lane is open.
Carpentersville officials found that water and sewer lines installed 60 years ago are now exposed after the dam removal project lowered Fox River water levels this spring-also, the village said work to bury the lines is estimated to cost over $3 million with state Rep.-Suzanne Ness securing $400,000 in funding and engineering work to merge the lines set to start in the fall.
