CRIME NEWS

  • Isabela Dytlow, 53, was arrested for felony burglary after unlawfully entering a Park Ridge home on May 13 at about 2:15 p.m. — she was restrained by a resident while attempting to flee — and police continue to search for a second suspect.  Daily Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rosemont village board approved spending $176,265 to create a walking, talking animatronic of its founding mayor that will serve as the centerpiece of a new local history museum scheduled to open Jan. 20. The robot—designed by Sally Dark Rides using an hour-long 2005 speech—will be motion activated and ready in June as Mayor Brad Stephens and his son Joseph raise funds to support the project.  Daily Herald
  • Prospect Heights will resume its debate on backyard chicken rules at a city council meeting on May 27. City Administrator Joe Wade said there will be no vote then—Mayor Patrick Ludvigsen prefers starting the ordinance reading on June 9 with a vote on June 23.  Daily Herald

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Wednesday, five young patients who battled serious illnesses took part in a reverse autograph signing event at Wrigley Field organized by the Cubs and Advocate Health Care. Fourteen-year-old Caiden Ray from Mundelein, who had his tumor removed, said meeting players like Pete Crow-Armstrong felt very different—more personal than watching games on TV.  Daily Herald
