  • On November 24, thirty tenants at 7500 South Shore launched their tenant union after a federal immigration raid exposed long-standing issues with heat, electricity, and basic repairs. The union demanded Friedman Communities fix these conditions and that the Chicago Housing Authority expedite inspections— otherwise, they will escalate actions to secure safe living conditions.  South Side Weekly
  • Local shoppers in Hyde Park, Kenwood and Woodlawn can find markets and small stores offering handmade gifts and unique seasonal foods during the holiday season. Events include the Hyde Park Art Center sale from Dec. 6 to Dec. 21, a makers market at the Promontory on Dec. 20, and Woodlawn's pre-Kwanzaa market on Dec. 20.  Hyde Park Herald
