CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A federal raid at the long-time Swap-O-Rama on October 16 left vendors shaken and pressured management to add new safety measures such as posting signs that limit access without a judicial warrant (15 people were detained), while many vendors face reduced sales and are pushing for quarterly meetings with owners to improve security. The incident followed a recent reminder from Mayor Brandon Johnson that businesses can deny entry to agents, fueling calls for stronger protections in Back of the Yards. South Side Weekly

- ➤ On November 6, 2025, UIC’s Pacific Islander Think Tank hosted a screening of selected clips from Moana and led a discussion on Pacific Islander culture and representation—attendees enjoyed free pizza and popcorn during the event. Today UIC
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On November 6 at 3:30 p.m. a 3D printing workshop was held at the Richard J. Daley Library Digital Fabrication Lab where participants learned to design and print their own fidget spinner. Attendees brought their laptops+skilled instructors led step-by-step guidance+and the session ended with hands-on practice. Today UIC
