Illinois collected a record $2.7 billion in gambling tax revenue last year, a 19% boost from the previous year, according to a state report.
Growth came from video gambling machines, casino openings, & increased online sports wagering.
🎓 Education
UIC has joined Halo's Flagship University Program — an online hub connecting academic research with industry partners — to boost research visibility and forge new collaborations.
Faculty can join an info session on Oct. 29 at noon to learn how to create a Halo profile.
Robert Klie (head of physics at UIC) was elected Fellow of the American Physical Society for pioneering atomic-resolution electron microscopy and spectroscopy that advance material studies; his work expands UIC’s research capabilities with the MONO-MARS system, which opens new opportunities to study superconductors and energy solutions.
