  • On Oct. 5, preservationists Bronwyn Nichols Lodato and Ray Lodato unveiled a new plaque at the entrance to Promontory Point to honor its designation as a Chicago landmark. Local residents and community leaders celebrated decades-long efforts to save the park’s historic limestone — a symbol of community resilience.  Hyde Park Herald

FINANCE NEWS

  • The University of Chicago is selling its Center for Research in Security Prices, known as CRSP, for $375 million to Morningstar Inc.—the deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter as the sale will fund research and education while Booth researchers continue to access the data. University officials said the move comes as the university works to ease its growing debt.  Hyde Park Herald

  • Jesse Jackson Jr. announced his bid to return to Congress for the 2nd District seat, marking his comeback 12 years after resigning amid scandal. He told reporters that his campaign, based on a listening tour of local communities, will work to unite both urban and rural areas — focusing on economic growth and improved services.  Hyde Park Herald

  • The National Conference on Worker Safety and Health and the UIC School of Public Health are teaming up to host COSHCON2025 at Student Center East, 750 S.
