- ➤ The Invisible Institute launched an online archive that collects over 80 photos and years of reporting about life in Stateway Gardens in Bronzeville. Jamie Kalven said the archive preserves a lost chapter of public housing history—showing how demolition changed the community. Hyde Park Herald

- ➤ Project Onward is showing its exhibition Poor Man’s Paradise—an art show that honors the old Maxwell Street Market at Bridgeport Art Center. Local artists and artifacts tell the market’s story in an exhibit that will close September 27. South Side Weekly
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UIC associate professor Stacey Sutton was named a 2025 Freedom Scholar by the Marguerite Casey Foundation on Sept. 17 in recognition of her work in economic democracy and community engagement—she will receive $250,000 to support her research on grassroots organizations and urban economic policies. Her award follows previous honors at UIC for her commitment to advancing racial and economic justice. Today UIC
