GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Axel Peterman-Spreen, a foraging guide from Hyde Park, got a cease-and-desist order from the Chicago Park District in mid-July when he promoted a foraging walk in Jackson Park—breaking a rule that bans removing any part of a plant, which can lead to a $500 fine. He plans to contest the rule by linking it to food equity as residents face SNAP benefit cuts.  Hyde Park Herald

  • Kenwood Academy's football team had a 6-7 record last fall but reached the Public League title game and state playoffs, and coach Chris Goffer now looks to a fresh season with dynamic junior quarterback Kenyonte Louis — the standard — leading the offense.
