ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 19-year-old Addison man died Tuesday evening after losing control of his motorcycle in Hanover Park when witnesses led police to his location near County Farm Road at 8 p.m. and officers tried lifesaving measures before he was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, and the crash remains under investigation.  Daily Herald
  • The body of a swimmer who went missing Tuesday night in the Wood Dale/Itasca Reservoir was recovered late Wednesday at about 7:30 p.m. by searchers—authorities did not release his identity and reminded the public that swimming is not allowed in DuPage County Forest Preserve properties.  Daily Herald

CULTURE NEWS

  • Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry in Jackson Park was saved from decay when community voters approved a $5 million bond to restore a former World's Fair palace into a museum of science that inspires local children. The building used millions of pounds of limestone—along with preserved bricks and donated funds—to become a cherished cultural icon in Hyde Park.  Hyde Park Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton received endorsements from former Congressman Bobby Rush and former Secretary of State Jesse White on August 6, boosting her bid for Sen. Dick Durbin’s seat (adding momentum from top state leaders in a crowded primary that includes Reps. Robin Kelly and Raja Krishnamoorthi) ahead of the March 17, 2026 election.  Hyde Park Herald
