- ➤ Buffalo Grove recognized three resident volunteers Monday during its Caring Community Program—honoring 13-year-old Adhya Gartapati for her environmental work, Gina Kapinos for her support of neighbors, and retired Rob Klawans for his nonprofit service. Village President Eric Smith presented the awards to strengthen the village’s 'Smart. With Heart.' identity and encourage continued community engagement. Daily Herald

- ➤ Emergency crews are continuing the search for a male swimmer who went missing Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. near Wood Dale in a DuPage County Forest Preserve Reservoir (swimming is not allowed in this catch basin) as several fire agencies have begun recovery efforts. Daily Herald

- ➤ Antioch business owner Keith Michalek has revived the historic Glen Rock pop brand using the original recipe with pure cane sugar and is serving it from a custom-designed trailer at farmers’ markets and events. Production is underway and bottles will be available soon at four retail outlets and about 15 restaurants (bringing a taste of childhood back to local events). Daily Herald

- ➤ The Social Justice Initiative and Woman Made Gallery will host the 'Echoes of Ferguson' closing reception in Chicago to mark the 11th anniversary of the Ferguson Uprising, featuring readings by local women and nonbinary poets. Attendees will experience poetic interventions that connect art, justice and collective memory—RSVP is required as space is limited. Today UIC
- ➤ Hyde Park will host a busy week of free events including music concerts, art openings, and a Shakespeare play, while the Bud Billiken Parade and Festival marches Saturday at 10 a.m. along King Drive to end at Washington Park — where a back-to-school celebration will offer free supplies and services. - ➤ Today, longtime Special Olympics athlete and Hoffman Estates native Zach Coppel will lead the Chicago Ducky Derby as the official Duck Ambassador—more than 75,000 rubber ducks will be released at 1 p.m. from the Columbus Drive Bridge to support Special Olympics Illinois programs. Daily Herald
