GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lake in the Hills police can now carry personal weapons on duty after the village board approved the change on Thursday. Police Chief Matt Mannino said officers must fill out a form and have their firearms inspected—without extra pay—and sign a waiver that the department is not liable for any loss or damage. Daily Herald
- ➤ Glen Ellyn-based public radio station WDCB 90.9-FM will lose a $140,000 federal grant on Oct. 1—cutting a key funding source, though the station ended its fiscal year with a surplus. Manager Dan Bindert said listener donations and other funds keep the jazz and music programs running without immediate changes. Daily Herald
