- ➤ Family members reported finding 49-year-old Felicia Bates on Monday—more than two weeks after she went missing from a South Shore bus stop—after she was last seen on July 2 when she told relatives she was headed to Nichols Park in Hyde Park. Hyde Park Herald

- ➤ The 35th annual Chosen Few Picnic and Festival took place on Saturday, July 12th at Jackson Park and drew tens of thousands, marking a day of house music and family traditions — organizers highlighted the event's 35-year legacy and its role in inspiring new talents. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On June 4, a CPD fusion center officer reported that federal Homeland Security Investigations agents called for help when transporting arrested immigrants at an ICE facility on South Loop at 2245 S. Michigan—city officials now are reviewing records to see if police violated Chicago’s Welcoming City Ordinance. South Side Weekly
- ➤ Palatine and the Palatine Park District approved a $5 million property swap that is expected to save taxpayers $25 million—30 million while addressing long-term facility needs. The village will take full ownership of the Combined Services Facility by April 2027 to sidestep a $40 million new public works center as the park district renovates a former temporary village hall for its use. - ➤ Northwest Suburban High School District 214 is selling a 6.5 acre property at 2123 South Arlington Heights Road that has a vacant building of about 24000 square feet and a minimum asking price of $5.5 million. The sealed bid sale must be completed within 60 days and the board may approve the winning bid as early as Aug. 21—it will help fund urgent school renovations. Daily Herald
