Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 14th of July.
Good morning, Chicago.
🏘️ Community
Northwest suburban residents have held 18-minute walks every week since April 2024 to honor hostages by displaying a growing number of days on their shirts—more than 600 as of now—and carrying flags to demand their release.
Local organizers say the group will keep marching—until the hostages are freed—despite mixed reactions from the community.
🏥 Health
Joanne Dalessandro of North Barrington was diagnosed with FSHD after a decade-long search and now works to raise funds and awareness for the disease—her team raised over $110,000 last year for research while the FSHD Society plans to hold the Chicagoland Walk & Roll on Sept.
