  • Kenwood artist Dawn Brennan transformed her basement into Studio Bootsie for artists who are less known and will open her first show on July 20 featuring ceramic pieces by her former student Elizabeth Wojcik and some of her own work. The studio is open every Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. until August 31 — located at 4335 S. Lake Park Ave — and offers a new venue for local art.  Hyde Park Herald
  • The Fox Valley Aero Club’s Windy City Warbirds & Classics RC air show continues today at 3831 Karl Madsen Drive in St. Charles — more than 40 pilots will fly over 100 replica models including military and civilian aircraft with tickets priced at $5 for adults and free for kids 12 and younger.  Daily Herald

  • Christian Mitchell, a 38-year-old Bronzeville resident and vice president for civic engagement at the University of Chicago, said he is ready to be Gov. Pritzker’s running mate next year after serving as state legislator, deputy governor, and top campaign adviser. Gov. Pritzker described him as a trusted partner—one who helped pass key measures like a $45 billion infrastructure plan and major climate initiatives for Illinois.  Daily Herald
