CRIME NEWS

  • University of Chicago professor Jens Ludwig in his new book explains that behavioral economics can lower Chicago’s gun violence by changing neighborhood factors that make people act on stress — he points to improvements such as better street lighting and more small businesses to boost safety. His ideas offer a fresh approach for reducing sudden, violent conflicts in the city.  Hyde Park Herald
  • A Cook County Circuit Court judge denied the Blackhawks’ motion for summary judgment, leaving questions of fact in John Doe’s lawsuit that alleges the team ignored sexual assault claims during the 2010 playoffs.
