- ➤ Authorities resumed their search this morning in Fox Lake for 25-year-old Destin Peter after he jumped into Mineola Bay just after midnight Tuesday and remains missing—local police urge anyone with information to come forward. Daily Herald

- ➤ UIC alum Maria Gaspar will present her sonic sculpture—made from 18 prison bars salvaged from a demolished section of Cook County Jail—at UIC Gallery 400 on July 23, with local musician Thaddeus Tukes performing live as a video of the 2021 demolition plays in the background. Today UIC

- ➤ Illinois immigration rights advocates are waiting for Gov. Pritzker’s signature on HB 3247, the Safe Schools for All Act, which would protect K-12 students from being denied free public education based on immigration status+ The bill passed both chambers in the spring session and will require schools to set procedures for handling law enforcement requests. - ➤ The UIC Police Department named Rinell Readus as Civilian of the Year and Officer Robert Altman as Officer of the Year for their strong leadership in keeping the campus safe—Readus manages over 150 security staff while Altman has been recognized for his proactive, life-saving service during his long career. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ UIC researchers developed a new drug called RNK07421 (blocking KRASG12C and HSP90) that shrank lung cancer tumors in lab tests. They said the two-in-one approach may help overcome drug resistance and lead to personalized treatments in future studies. Today UIC
