- ➤ Organizers of the 4th on 53rd Parade will host a Hyde Park-themed trivia fundraiser on June 26 at Woodlawn Tap, with teams paying $20 to play and registration starting at 6:30 p.m. The event aims to help cover rising parade costs and will feature local special guests such as Ald. Desmon Yancy—round winners earn a free drink and the overall winner’s name is engraved on a plaque. Hyde Park Herald
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ An Elgin man, Rocky Ahmedyar (35, 1100 block of Spring Creek Road), was charged with attempted first-degree murder after firing a handgun at a woman during a domestic dispute in Naperville on Tuesday, faces charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated stalking and violation of an order of protection, was denied pre-trial release in DuPage County court, and has a court appearance set for July 14. - ➤ Accessible Juneteenth is the fifth annual celebration happening today at The Quad and is hosted by the UIC Disability Cultural Center, the Chicagoland Disabled People of Color Coalition, and the Center for Racial and Disability Justice. The event offers food from Cook It Mama Café, live performances by DJ Matt, Victoria Boateng, Pinqy Ring, EndyB, and J Bambii, and accessibility features — ASL with captioning, tents for shade and a quiet space at the Latino Cultural Center. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mount Prospect and Des Plaines settled a two-year lawsuit with Prestige Feed Products to end odor complaints from neighbors. Under the deal, Prestige will leave its operation at 431 Lakeview Court by Dec. 31 and cut manufacturing hours to nighttime windows—limiting production on weekends. Daily Herald
