Good morning, Chicago. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 10th of June.

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mount Prospect removed the temporary traffic calming islands and circles from Hatlen Heights after a three-week trial on Audrey Lane and Meier Road. Residents at the village board meeting opposed a possible permanent return and suggested closing Connie Street to boost safety—letters about the trial will be sent before the Transportation Safety Commission meets in September.  Daily Herald
  • Illinois lawmakers submitted a $55.2B budget on May 31 that raises $1B in new revenue and increases spending by over $2B for fiscal year 26. Civic Federation President Joe Ferguson said the plan is incomplete—relying on short-term measures such as $271M in fund sweeps and paused transfers that may complicate future budgeting.  Hyde Park Herald
