EDUCATION NEWS

  • A student journalist at Prospect High School uncovered former principal Alvin Kulieke’s ties to a religious group that promoted early eugenics ideas—spurring District 214 to review its naming policy. Administrators are meeting to decide if the Kulieke name will be removed from the school theater, with a board recommendation expected this summer.  Daily Herald

HEALTH NEWS

  • On May 26, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said healthy children and pregnant women would no longer be automatically recommended for COVID-19 shots due to a lack of clinical data—while the CDC later advised that kids under 18 could be vaccinated if their doctors approve. Cook County public health leaders stressed that vaccines remain a critical tool for protecting families as COVID risks continue this fall.  Daily Herald
