  • On Saturday, a coalition of progressive activists, faith leaders and organizers gathered at Woodlawn’s First Presbyterian Church for People’s Agenda to discuss immigration, economic crises and resistance to right-wing policies—over 150 attendees participated in speeches, training sessions and breakout discussions that detailed both historical protests and current challenges.  Hyde Park Herald

CULTURE NEWS

  • International Festival of Life is moving from Washington Park to the South Loop this summer. The festival will run from July 11 to July 13 at Park No. 540, 2420 S. Dearborn St—featuring the 42nd Chicago Music Awards, with one-day tickets starting at $35 and free entry for children 12 and under.  Hyde Park Herald

HEALTH NEWS

  • A study from the University of Chicago finds that two state-run health programs for immigrants may have reduced bad debt by 15%—saving hospitals about $1.5 million on average each year. Gov. Pritzker is planning to shut down the larger program for middle-aged adults in his upcoming budget proposal, even as the study shows its financial benefits.  Hyde Park Herald
