- ➤ Entrepreneur Steven Hobbs Sr. has opened the former Leona’s as a low-cost rental space for events and launched a VE Lounge pop-up with AI to revitalize Kimbark Plaza—he expects the project to boost local events and provide affordable space for community gatherings. Hyde Park Herald
- ➤ Eric Williams, owner of the Silver Room in Hyde Park, launched a fundraiser to cover $600K in debts from last summer's block party that ran over budget due to high costs and low turnout — he aims to raise $200K by June 1 and eventually $1M to help pay vendors and support the space. The fundraiser does not affect his other ventures and comes after nearly 20 years of funding the event from his own pocket. Hyde Park Herald
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Tunnel to Towers 9/11 NEVER FORGET mobile exhibit opened Friday at Parkway Bank Park in Rosemont and drew many visitors who saw artifacts from Sept. 11, 2001 including steel beams and firefighting gear—former first responders served as docents during guided tours. The exhibit is free and open today from noon to 6 p.m.—local residents can explore its displays and learn about that historic day. Daily Herald
