- ➤ UIC historian and associate dean Jane Rhodes was elected to the American Antiquarian Society today, honoring her work in Black Studies + the society, founded in 1812, recognizes scholars who contribute to understanding African American history. Today UIC
- ➤ UIC Technology Solutions says Canvas is down due to a national security incident at Instructure — course materials are unavailable until officials confirm the platform is safe for final exams. Today UIC
- ➤ Canvas LMS is back online after recovery efforts by Instructure, allowing the UIC community to resume course work. Technology Solutions is updating the help article about course materials and advising caution when opening unexpected emails — backup plans are underway. Today UIC
- ➤ UIC professor Luis Alberto Urrea was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; his induction will take place in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in October + he is the eighth UIC faculty member honored with this distinction. Today UIC
- ➤ UIC’s Undergraduate Student Government announced the 2026 Faculty Open Educational Resources Leadership Award winners: Emily Dosmar (Biomedical Engineering), Michael Mills (Biological Sciences) and Anthony Woldeit (Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science).
