EDUCATION NEWS

  • Brianna Guerrier, a senior in UIC’s nutrition sciences program, builds local food support by volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House and advocating for better nutrition policies in food deserts. She will study abroad in Italy this spring and plans to return to UIC as a speaker to inspire students.  Today UIC
  • U. of C. paleontologist Paul Sereno has pitched a $50M science center called Scitopia Chicago on a vacant lot near East Garfield Boulevard in Washington Park. The center will offer teen programs and maker labs (with cultural exhibits) and is set for groundbreaking in January 2028 with a May 2029 opening.  Hyde Park Herald

  • Amtrak held an online seminar April 16 to explain plans to upgrade Union Station’s rail system and boost travel reliability — featuring Joe Shacter as director of the Chicago Hub Improvement Program and linking the projects to state transportation plans.  Today UIC
