EDUCATION NEWS

  • The 30th Karen J. Honig Memorial Lecture took place on March 18 from 4–6 pm at Jane Addams College of Social Work, where Trina Reynolds-Tyler discussed challenges faced by families of missing women in Chicago. Her talk drew on investigative reporting to highlight systemic issues + biases.  Today UIC
  • The Institute for the Humanities presented the Faculty Fellow Lecture Series on 'Skill as Practical Knowledge' by UIC associate professor Will Small yesterday, March 18. He explained how practical knowledge relates to skill by comparing different views on intellectual and anti-intellectual approaches.  Today UIC

HEALTH NEWS

  • UI Health hosted its annual St. Baldrick’s head-shaving fundraiser on Friday, March 13, where 11 volunteers had their heads shaved to support pediatric cancer research (raising over $4,000) and awarding a $50,000 grant from the Do It For Dominic Fund to aid clinical trials.  Today UIC
