  • The Nowruz celebration at the University of Chicago’s Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on March 14 at 1155 E. 58th St. It features music, storytelling and crafts (with $5 for children/members, $10 for adults) to offer a hopeful, cross-cultural gathering.  Hyde Park Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UIC journalism students are training in a new AI course where they learn to research and write stories using tools like Perplexity. Instructor Mike Reilley guides them to use AI as a sidekick (not a replacement) to build their skills.  Today UIC
  • UIC faculty will lead a miniseries titled 'Being an Effective PI' that teaches team science and leadership. The panel—featuring Tamar Heller and Robert Motl—will answer questions on managing grant projects and building strong teams.  Today UIC

HEALTH NEWS

  • A University of Illinois Chicago study shows that pregnant women living in neighborhoods with more green spaces gave birth to heavier babies, a sign of better early health, even when air pollution and heat were considered. The findings may drive urban greening efforts in Chicago.  Today UIC

  • Hyde Park Academy boys basketball ended their season with a 54-33 loss to Leo on Monday evening at Credit Union 1 Arena. The Thunderbirds finished with 25 wins & 10 losses after an early fast-break push gave way to Leo’s strong lead, led by juniors Jeremiah Echols & Karon Shavers.  Hyde Park Herald
