- ➤ Thousands gathered at House of Hope in Pullman for Rev. Jesse Jackson's five-hour homegoing service on March 6, with family and notable figures (including former presidents) paying tribute to his legacy after he died on Feb. 17. Hyde Park Herald
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ U. of C. paleontologist Paul Sereno uncovered a new Spinosaurus species in the Sahara in 2019, and a replica is on display at the Chicago Children’s Museum as part of its Dinosaur Expedition exhibit. The bones will soon return to Niamey for display at the Museum of the River (a project led by Sereno). Hyde Park Herald
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ UIC oncologist Dr. Frank Weinberg leads a study that found a unique combination of molecules in lung samples from 20 early-stage cancer patients may serve as a biomarker for earlier diagnosis and treatment. Blood tests also showed similar warning signals that could lead to quicker future screenings. Today UIC
