EDUCATION NEWS

  • UIC alumna Cheryl Ganz has established the Margaret (Peg) Strobel Scholarship Fund to support students whose work reflects the impact of Strobel, the university's first women's studies professor who built a renowned program since 1979.  Today UIC
  • UIC junior Ava Angele will leave later this month for a study abroad program in Freiburg, Germany under a Gilman Scholarship to study Medieval history. Fourth-year Aniya Payton, who left for Buenos Aires last week, is studying urban issues and will return in early June after her UIC graduation.  Today UIC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a public meeting on March 5 at Kennicott Park Fieldhouse at 4434 S. Lake Park Ave to review plans for rebuilding a 3,700-foot stretch of Kenwood shoreline. The public comment period on the draft environmental assessment ends on March 27.  Hyde Park Herald
